Sorry about the time span between posts, but have 3 new pics and some updated news.
Randy is steadily improving each day. His short term memory is getting better and better. He has been able to work out lifting weights and walking, but still looks a little skinny if you ask me. He now answers his cell phone and is open to visitors. Keep in mind he is still attending therapy 3 times a week for 2 hours so call ahead. He will meeting with the Emory doctors tomorrow and possibly be cleared to drive.

Status on Randy as of 10/18/07
I went and saw Randy on Thursday and he is doing very well. He said his doctor had cleared him for walking. Which is good as I think he is getting a little stir crazy hanging about the house all the time. He still hasn't gotten the weight that he lost in the hospital back on yet, and looks like he could use about another 15 pounds back on him.
His memory is progressing very well in my opinion. He sometimes gets a little goofy when he gets tired, but other than that seems to remember most anything I can throw at him. His doctors tell him they read his chart and are very suprised when they meet him, the 2 don't match up. Hopefully he continues to progress at this rate.
I meant to get some current pictures of him yesterday but forgot to shoot a few before leaving. I will see him tonight and get a couple posted.

Week 1 back at home
Well sorry about the slow update first off. Randy is back at home now and has been for almost a full week. I stopped in and saw him tonight he looks and is doing great! I was the first trip over that he didn't ask me for some smokes, so maybe he has given up;) He is doing rehab as an outpatient 2-3 times a week. He claims he doesn't need it and they only want him to go to get more money out of him!
He looks about 15-20 pounds lighter than he was. The hospital food wasn't that good apparently!
Well I will update with recent pictures in the next couple of days, and will ask Randy if he wants to take over his blog yet.

Coming Home!
Hi again,
Randy is coming home for his weekend pass a week earlier! He'll be at home Saturday after 12 and stay until Sunday til about 6 or so. Lori would still like visitors to call before coming over. During the weekend pass he still has to stick to a schedule and can only have visitors at certain times. Also no smoking around Randy we're hopefully going to convince him he never smoked. Either way he's not supposed to be smoking, drinking or any other vices while recovering.

Photo Update
Hello all! I just posted 5 more pictures on the site. Some of the pictures are from when he was still in Grady. He is of course no longer hooked to any machines.
Randy is still doing very well on his recovery, and his case worker is saying his on track to be out in about a week! I will be updating the blog as I get more information.

Quick Recovery!
Hi all, Just another update. Randy is up an about and going outside to get some fresh air as you can tell from the latest picture. He is doing very well with his recovery and will be out of Emory in 10 days! They are going to give him a "weekend" pass, that if everything goes well will be permanent. For the short term he will still need 24 hour in home care but I imagine he will recover faster in the comfort of his own home. His recovery is more improved than the first estimates so he is doing better than they expected.
I will be posting a few more pictures later on today. Because of space constraints it means I will be taking some down to possibly. So if you want to save any, now is the time. You can always email for the later is you so wish.

New pictures coming soon!
Hi all I talked to Randy on the phone today and he sounded up in spirits and more like the Randy we all know! So that is great news. I will be posting new pictures hopefully tomorrow. They will be some pictures of him with the grizzly adams beard look. His daughter went down to shave his beard and give him a haircut.
His Physical and Occupational therapy is coming along well, and it looks like is on the mend. Will update as I hear more.

Emory Center for Rehabilitation Medicine
Randy is at Emory now and has been since Wednesday. I have posted a link on the upper left hand side of the page for directions. Visitation hours are between 4-8 p.m. His doctors are asking that the visits not be to long as he is on a regular rehab schedule now and needs to rest. He is doing very well physically, but can still be confused at times.
Keep checking back as I will be updating the blog as much as possible. I will get some up to date pictures on later on this afternoon.

Getting things started
Hi all! Just a quick post to get things started. Lori had asked me to get a blog going for Randy, so people would have a place to come and get updates and post comments.
